Anhinga

Ok now I can see it's a rat - does he eventually get it down? A very interesting bird to be sure. Great capture.

Janice: The entrails are actually preventing the bird from opening it's beak. The bird must have been struggling for some time, because it allowed me to get very close and appeared to be falling asleep in between attempts to dislodge the rat.
